I think that would work! I used to be terrified of the noise when i was little, if we went to a display i would hide in the back of the car and watch through the window. TBH, they still scare me!

I remember having to buy MacDonalds Happy Meals and sit in the lounge with all the blinds down on black-out, stereo and telly on full blast just to stop my daughter screaming. She was 2 at the time - she's 12 now and still screams - but only at tidy-up time, not fireworks!!!!!!

I agree this time of year can be very stressful. As a VN there is only so much advice and support we can give clients on what they can do/products they can use. There is also a petition for fireworks to carry pet safety information but I agree private sale of fireworks should be banned and only organised events allowed for the safety of people and pets.

Finnigan I wanna live by you!!! Our neighbours bought some more today so we've had them for over an hour since Poor Konni is just pacing up and down and can't settle at all. Amazingly the neighbours have a JRT x that has been barking his little head off all evening - you'd think they'd have more sense, but they just seem to think it's hilarious

I was amazed with Kendall, last year was hell and he wouldnt sleep the whole of the night after they had gone off so ws expecting the worst. He has an adaptil, having kalmaid, scullcap and valerian and just had a tiny smidge of diazeam at 5.30pm, less than 0.5mg/kg. He has also been having bowen therapy in the run up. He just lay on the sofa lazing about like normal - looked up at the very loud ones but that was it!!! It was the only night I have given him the diazepam and he been great this year even without the diazepam - someting has certainly made the difference!!

I still think they should be banned for prvate use though - there were people at the top of my street letting them off right by some pigeon sheds made of wood!!

Ollie, my springer was ok more the normal fireworks, not completely his normal self, but ok. But then some idiots started setting off the most rediculously loud ones and completly freaked him out. He ended up behind the table growling. He's starting to get really unpredictable with them, they never used to bother him, but I think I am going to have to Xanax him for new year as I can't see that I am going to be able to make much difference between then and now. Luckily my cat and rabbits seemed fine. I really wish they would just ban selling them to the public. Its not like its just a problem for the animals. The other night one of the other nurses and a receptionist were leaving after closing up for the night and saw one nearly hit a cyclist going down the road. People just can't be trusted to be sensible with them. Rant over

senna not fussed thankfully and slept thru them all. My mums bull mastiff has gotten progressively worse and needed diazepam! They started lettting them off about 2 oclock when she was out for a walk, dog bolted towards the cliff! All ok thank goodness!

My animals were ok. I however had tv and radio on full blast, I still managed to pass out from a panic attack when they started letting them off in the courtyard about 10yards away from my bedroom window. The only good bit about bonfire night is the parkin cake and treacle toffee.

We're not too bad round here as there is a park with a public display 2 roads over so very few people have their own. I was concerned about my older boy, Tux, as they were pretty close all the same and hes always been scared, but he chilled on my bed in the back of the house (front faces the park) and actually calmed my yong female, Demi down, I told her to go st with him and she did and both fell asleep!!!! Meg my older female would sleep through anything and Quaxo my young male kept coming beside me by the window watching them

I'd never actually thought of it like that - but now come to think of it you're right. If they didn't make pretty colours they would be classed as explosives and therefore illegal.

We were pretty lucky, had a few barking sessions but even the ones who normally get very stressed seemed okay! The nearest to us was about half a mile down the road, and shut up by 10pm luckily,but it was a big display when it was on.

Poor konni I wish they would hurry up and ban private displays, people shouldnt be allowed to set off explosives in a back garden! seems obvious to me!
