I have animal care experience but not specifically within a vets, more shelters, boarding kennels etc. I am doing the veterinary support assistant level 3 diploma via home study and been offered a voluntary placement within a vets to go alongside my studying. I think i am going to do this in the hope that they may decide to train me to become a veterinary nurse in the future and put me on the payrol. If not i can apply to other places after i have gained the experience with this vet.

Thanks for your help, i think its helped me come to a decision

Re: Help finding an apprenticeship

Personally I'd say you need a place in a TP 1st- they are like gold dust!!!!! It could take years!!!! Also some practical work will confirm or not, if you really want to do the job!

Have you done lots of work experience?? I personally would start writing to all TPs in your area- or try and get as job as a VCA/work for free (cant spell the v word!) at a non TP to get experience to help with a TP place- as it will get you good on the job experience.

Good luck!
