I am sorry but I really dont understand why pole position should be kept free. Its tragic what has happened it really is but it has happened and its time to move on. It doesnt mean he will be forgotten but this sometimes happens. Anybody that takes part in any motor sport be it bikes, cars or carts you always have it in the back of your mind that yes alongside the thrill of the race there is always risk - the two go hand in hand. I have lost a couple of close friends to racing, a spill on the track contributed to my partners passing, I have had a couple of spills myself. If you want to race you just accept that this could be an outcome but you go out and enjoy yourself and dont dwell on it. Remember he went out doing something he loved I think the race should be a celebration of his life rather than a memorial to his death and by keeping pole position free thats what it becomes. Sorry not showing disrespect to anybody - its just the way I feel about it.

it was a terrible accident and to watch the helmet bounce along was traumatic. They think because he had so much hair is why the helmet did not stay on but I guess we will never know.

indeed very sad is one of the riders I had followed since he raced with Gilera. I do hope Rossi doesnt retire - though it will probably take a lot to get over- this could have happened to any one of them on the track.

Soo sad and deverstating such a loss to the motorcycle world, he was such a good personality. Hope Rossi ok now though think it may crush him esp the fact he was involved.

A very sad time in Moto GP, and motorsport in general following Dan Wheldon's death just last week. I have been thinking about it all day today, and then came off my own bike after skidding on mud on the rain on the way home tonight. No major damage done, mainly cosmetic to the bike, and a few bruises on me, but does bring it how dangerous these things can be. RIP Marco, a rising star who didn't have his chance to shine fully.

Yeah well you do have to wonder, I mean it wasnt his fault in any way it was a horrifc accident but.... he did hit him and that will stay with him forever. :( Valencia is going to be a very solomn race. Not sure if im up to watching :(

I cried most of yesterday and again today also but it hasn't really sunk in. I can't imagine the next grid without him being there.

MotoGP won't be the same again

I keep reading tributes, its devastating

Some are predicting that Rossi may now retire also.

The crash has been playing on my mind a lot, I am truly gutted about this. He was my favourite rider in the GP, so young with so much potential.

oh god! i cried so much, he bought so much excitement to the races and I had really high hopes for him on the factory honda next year. Marco I hope you felt no pain, you are bright star that will be sadly missed :( xxx
