Thansk for telling me about freecycle......so far I have got rid of a dining room table & 4 chairs, 3 bags of clothes and a wine rack.......not made any money but least they have gone!!!! Tomorrow someone collecting bag full of cuddly toys.............its nice knowing I am doing a good deed and these unwanted items are getting a new home

Got lots of items on ebay so hope they sell.....including an Apple ipod shuffle, rollerblades, brand new braun toothbrush, candlestick, tea light holders, lots of stuff mostly brand new making great xmas presents!!!!!! So if your interested check them out on ebay....I am kerryvn on ebay

Oh meant to mention that not only do you get pencils tey have paper tape measures which are great for belly banding dogs and cats

Ikea is large warehouses full of furniture....you wander round choosing want you want.....make a note of the item number using the pencils (!!!!) them go to the vast alleyways of flat packed furniture storage areas to collect it........its reasonable affordable furniture......plus have a good cafe thats very cheap and does a lovely dime bar cake!!!! Its an experience you should find your nearest one and go!!!!!

I love Ikea, a good range of stuff in various price brackets. Can usually get what you want brand new reasonably cheap (however watch out if you need delivery as can get expensive, if I want anything big I usually sweet talk someone with a people carrier type car to take me )

a set of cutlery for £5 max and various stuff like that a friend just got a table and 4 chairs for about £50.

I have to say I am a bit of a snob when it comes to furniture etc as I prefer either new or from family I like to know whos sat on my chairs etc, but I save up for things that I want/need.

I've just thought about it and everything except my sofa, bed, desk and wardrobe (as in furniture) is Ikea in origin oooops think I needto go to ikea annonymous!!!!

I feel like a wierdo - I have never been to Ikea - ever - yep you read that right!! So I don't really 'get' Ikea...?

I have heard you get free pencils there though?

I'm a second hand, hand me down, charity shop kinda girl - to buy actual brand new furniture sounds so wonderful... but excessive and naughty!

LOL yeh Ikea isnt a date venue!!!! Selling stuff on ebay at the moment hoping it will all sell as need rid of the stuff and the cash for new stuff!!!! Also thanks for those telling me about free recycle I have put stuff on there too

HOT DOGS AND ICE CREAM! Used to love sneaky IKEA trips! Went once tho with my then-boyfriend who commented as we were in the resturant it was therefore classed as a date.....can you see why he's my ex lol! If I lived closer I'd be so up for a roadtrip!

Great thanks for all your help.....I am based in Lancashire no not fussy bout cutlery etc I think trip to Ikea will be on the cards.....do want a decent sofa though that doesnt cost the earth though!!!!!

I got my tall freezer off ebay new very reasonably, we did have to go and collect it but it's still going strong 5 years later,

Cutlery if you aren't picky Ikea have sets for about £5 (I know there isn't one too close to you but they often have other cheap stuff such as pots and pans! so might be worth a trip, you might be able toget a cheapish desk as well OOOO and their sofa's aren't too expensive (the ektorp range are very comfy!)

Another vote for Freecycle here - although our local Freegle group is much more active than the Freecycle one - look on http://ilovefreegle.org/

Most of my stuff has come from there, or from a local furniture project that collects unwanted furniture, and then sells back to the public at very low prices, and also delivers. Just got a 2 seater leather settee delivered today from there - cost me the grand sum of £40!

Have you looked on http://uk.freecycle.org/ ? i got a really good table and chairs for free (found the same thing in argos for £80!)

where abouts in the uk are you?
