Because here the work varies from simple weight loss to critical care. Dealing with inherited breed disorders in pedigree cats is very critical. Small things like cats behaviour, how amenable they are to handling and how well they recover are basically important to know.

For this, there are dedicated feline courses that bring together all these
aspects and to give a rounded and competent approach to nursing
the cat in practice. These courses are designed in order to improve the confidence and
skill of the student, and to give recognition within the profession. So these courses would basically be very much important for those who wants to make a career in veterinary and specifically in feline treatment.

Re: FAB Advanced Feline Nursing Course
I did it the first year it launched, Personally I found it too simple, and also found the back up at COAPE rubbish when we did want something clarifying, I just had emails demanding workbooks back rather than asking if I was ok with everything.
I'm with Steph, I did the course at the same time as her and it was a doddle. Didn't have to research or look anything up as it was all so simple.

Waste of my CPD budget in my opinion.

I can honestly say hand on heart I didn't learn a single thing or gain anything from the course.

Re: FAB Advanced Feline Nursing Course

I did it the first year it launched, Personally I found it too simple, and also found the back up at COAPE rubbish when we did want something clarifying, I just had emails demanding workbooks back rather than asking if I was ok with everything.

If the next stage was cheaper than I'd probably do it but to me it's not worth the money

Re: FAB Advanced Feline Nursing Course

Thanks, will be starting it in February hopefully!

Re: FAB Advanced Feline Nursing Course

Hi I completed the course in July this year, to be fair some people say they have not learnt anything new and some will say they have.

To be completely honest from someone who yes I can admit I prefer dogs to cats (not saying I hate cats before anyone comments), I found sections interesting, I think it is more for the use of nurses in general practice rather where I am - opthalmology referrals but I managed to register the workbooks around what I do day to day.

It was simple and easy enough as I could do it when I was quiet at work and did not have to take time out of work to read the notes and complete the workbooks, and coape were very quick in marking the workbooks aswell as giving feedback with.

Some of the questions the way they were written I could not understand what they were asking, so I emailed them and once again got a quick response, it starts of with the basics then towards the end goes into recovery, blood groups etc...

If I can be of any help at all then just drop a post as I still have all the notes and workbooks sat in a folder here at work
