&lt;p&gt;Perhaps direct them to their local vet practice to find out about costs of vaccinations, wormers, flea tx&amp;#39;s etc so that they can add these costs into what they are willing to spend on their daughters birthday? &amp;nbsp;I am certain they will get the gen-up from the practice about animal care too and how committed you have to be to care for a dog for life...&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Anyway, despite the unorthodox method of trying to obtain a pet, they might be fantastic owners once given the right directions to follow.... lack of education is forgivable so long &amp;nbsp;as there is the opportunity and willingness to learn.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Hope you can help them to help themselves and their prospective pet.&lt;/p&gt;
