No chance of that happening. It is totally unfair not to offer any of us listeds the chance to buy a replacemant old style badge at a reduced cost. It's not our fault that the useless fastening meant that most of us lost ours despite numerous repairs.

as i registered late in the year i get the new style badge free My friend who qualified before me have to pay i dont think this is fair...

I'll be getting it since when I qualified, my badge broke within 2 weeks and I wasn't going to pay £40 to get it replaced. So I may as well buy this new one while it's cheap.

I'm getting one, only due to the fact that 8 years ago when I qualified I never recieved my badge and was told when I rang up that I needed to pay for a "replacement" one, I've never had the money free to buy one so I am finally going to get a badge!! (but only while it's cheap!)

Nope I will not be getting the new badge. I do not want to make myself look different to listed nurses, we are all qualified and LVN are a hell of a lot more experienced than me! I do not agree with the time and money RCVS have spent on producing a new badge for no reason.

Yes - go to the RCVS website - you can download an application form, print it, complete it and send off your cheque for £15. Sorted!

think its a lot of money just to have registered added at the bottom, my badge means a lot to me and i worked bloody hard for it, and am very attached to it, so im afaid i wont be changing, also if people actually recognised my badge for what it is (i,e, members of the public) then maybe i would think differently, but as its just me and my work colleagues that only understand its meaning, then ill keep the one i have .

And no, it's not compulsory. It's purely up to you if you want to get the new one or not :-) It will be £15 until January 31st 2012 and then it will be the same price for a replacement badge, which is £43.

I don't know if I will yet. I love my badge and I worked hard for that badge, so I am not sure if I will get the new one yet but have until January to decide..
