Yup i think ive had way too much sun and has friend my brain...but i miss the -5 october we are supposed to have...this 32degrees in october nonsense is just weird!! Bring on the snow!!

Hi, I'd love to move to Canada, I used to live is Scotland also and it is lovely. I miss it also.

If you're planning on coming over now speak to RCVS and see if there is an equivillant qualification you can do in Canada. They may be able to register you based on that.

thanks for the advice. I was worried that the lack of schooling would be a huge issue, but it's good to know it's not completely hopeless. I would love to go through actually, but am still paying off earlier educational mistakes. Let's hope that experience, a glowing reference letter from my boss and a kind-hearted potential new boss will keep me working.

Also that jobs are l think a lot harder to get in Scotland to do training work if you were flexible nationwide then better chance stood dont know how tight the scotland plan is if it is just as you walked past the clinic each day?

Hiya im scottish and living/working in Fife in orthopaedic referral

Fife is pretty well accessible to Edinburgh/Glasgow and other surrounding areas. As others have said being qualified is definatelt an advantage however you may find practices willing to put you through training....if that is the case you may want to start looking sooner rather than later as svn vacancies are like gold dust. But also in saying that your experience that you have so far will definately be an advantage to you

your experience will be good but we are fighting to protect the title of veterinary nurse over here at the moment, so I don't know where things will stand when you come over but when you apply for jobs state that you are NOT qualified and probably aim for a trainee position as this should hopefully enable you to train and become qualified.

it's a long battle we are having (as you may see fom some of the other threads) and things may nt have changed by then but you neer know...miracles may happen lol

Hi again. So we are probably not going to make the move for a few years yet....hopefully no more than 3. We want to live in Fife, but am hoping to work in Edinburgh. Hopefully a bigger city will offer more opportunities. We just got back from visiting a friend in Edinburgh....she lives right off the walk. We did walk past a certain clinic everyday in our travels....the name escapes me, but I may have walked right past one of you!

One question I do have....I am a vet nurse insomuch as I assist with surgeries, appointments, xrays, rx, etc. but I did not actually go to school for this. I have so far, 3 1/2 years experience and by the time we make the move, it should be closer to 6 or 7 years. Will the fact that I did not go to school for this be to my detriment or will my experience make up for that?

Hi Canuck am oldie here live in the northwest muddy manchester area ditto to any help needed although Steph is just down the road and probably better bet with all/everyone she knows but if l can help l will.

Lovley place Scotland we have a couple of scottish on here CC is obviously in need of a head read moving from lovely hot sunny Caynman to cold wet Scotland but thats the scottish for you hehehehe

Hey im scottish, come from stirling but currently living in cayman island. Plan moving back august next year, if you wanna find nursing job in scotland just be aware they are sometimes few and far between so keep your eyes and ears open! Good luck on the move, where are you planning to go in scotland? x

Hi and welcome...sorry I'm not in Scotland but there are plenty of others who are!!

About us on here.......we are all a bunch of crazy people who love each other very much but quite often have never met....or if we have we haven't realised it!! If you ever want to ask anything just ask one of us should be able to help (if we cant we can always poke the person who could help with a big stick to get them to answer ), we rally round each other in times of crisis as well and try to be good friends and rocks for each other

Enjoy our mental world!!!
