We have been in contact with BSAVA and they are currently reviewing BVNA Members discounts. For the time being we have removed this as a benefit to avoid confusion.

Hi,

You cannot get the BSAVA manuals cheap any more if you are a BVNA member. I asked the BSAVA stand at the BVNA congress this year and they told me the discount no longer applied as VNs had the opportunity to join the BSAVA now.

BVNA have always been open about it, it's just people don't read the bumpf they get!! LOL

I knew about the discount back in 2000 or 2001 when I got my first load of BSAVA manuals...which was the only reason I could afford them when I was a poor student lol

Thanks for all the wonderful work youguys did at congress, it was great!!

I do love the bvna and i think their membership is much better, but looking at the congress prices for bsava the whole weekend cost £93 to vet nurse members and the days cost £80 each! i wanted to go for 2 days so it seemed sense to think about membership.

however the non-members day rate is still £80 and for 2 days this is only £160. which means im only saving £ if i joined (£66 membership and £93 members fee = £159).

I guess the only other bonus is the online CPD, podcasts and JSAP. (but then again we already get JSAPs at the practice)

I too also looked at this at bvna, but didnt really offer me any more than my bvna membership, which i actually think is so much better, and as for disc books, Amazon are still cheaper, decided it was a waste of money and prefer bvna.

Well thats the last time I get scammed out of £66!!! I also wasn't very happy as I ordered a book from them and a few days later it had been reduced by £20, I asked if I could have the £20 as I was a nurse and earned a pittance and they said no and basically TUFF!

I looked into it in great detail at BSAVA when the nurse membership was launched but found it didn't give me much more than I already had. One thing to note when looking at the "discounts" for BSAVA congress the discount only applies for next year and only for the whole congress so no discount on the day rates or for the future so whats the point?
