The practice i work in was taken over by CVS shortly before i joined. THe main complaint by clients is that they keep bumping up the prices. Before I started the consult fee was under £20 it's now just over £24. I come from quite an affluent area so was used to paying more than this but this area is quite deprived in places and alot of people struggle.

Think it depends on individual practices. The CVS practice up the road from us refuse to sell clients RC food, so they have to come and buy it from us. Seems stupid to turn business away!

i work for a cvs pratice after been in private practice for 10yrs. not found that much difference either and have never been in trouble for not giving out leaflets, or a certain brand of food or not selling insurance. We are a approved practice for petplan but that just means we can give clients a better service. they can insure with whoever they like.

A lot of practices are either hills or Rcw as they get better benefits from the manufacturer being with one or the other. If a pet doesn't like the hills food than we can use the rcw as an alternative product as it is in the pets welfare.

We are able to order what we need for the practice in terms of drugs, ok we have a budget but if we go over that and still need something then we order it as it is for the patients welfare etc.

In my opinion i think a lot depends on the individual management at each cvs practice or group and isn't that just the same with any private practice.

I worked for a CVS practice. I started after they had been taken over and could only cope with it for 3months. I was bound to limits on ordering (£1000 a month) and if I needed more stock over this limit I had to report to Clinical Directors who 9/10 refused any request for further stock.

I found I was bound by red tape and boundaries.

Practice was lovely as were the staff. Just found some of the guidelines frustrating personally.

I have worked in a private practice and now work for CVS have done for 2 years. You don't see much of the management and I agree about the dedicated and preferred products it can be a bit of a pain sometimes. I also think we do alot of "selling" Petplan, Hills etc

I have worked both in privately owned and now for cvs. They have spent a lot of money on the practice i work in e.g. ultrasound and an extension. I haven't really experienced any problems other than dedicated and preferred products which can be a bit limiting and frustrating sometimes.

have worked for private practices and now work for cvs practice not much different really

have access to child care vouchers

and as been said previously you have to used designated drugs / suppliers for things

generally much the same otherwise

We have been taken over by CVS and nothing has changed really. We have been given a new xray machine and Ultrasound and have more CPD available to us. Its true we have to budget more but that must be the the same in any practice really. I think its the practice management that feel the pressure from CVS rather than the nursing staff.

We've got a nurse who worked for 20years at her old practice until it got taken over by CVS, that's when she left and came to us

The practice I work for is owned by CVS. Haven't worked in any other practices so can't comment on differences but haven't come into any trouble yet.

Only significances is that we have to use certain brands of drug and we also promote Hills and Petplan Insurance. Don't know too much other than that.

Locum here where l usded to work no change that... spend my life. Anyhow no difference to before or after.
