I have a little dilemma i could use some advice on.
I have just found out that i am pregnant.....obviously happy about this, but a little worried as to what the response will be from my work place, as i have only been at the practice

Re: new job/pregnancy....

These things happen, I'm sure they'll be a bit miffed, but they should keep that to themselves if they have any sense!

Do you know how many weeks you are? If you worked there at least a week before the first week of your pregnancy, you are entitled to normal maternity rights as someone who has been there 2 years. Infact, I'm sure I read somewhere that they've even got rid of that and all pregnant woman have the same rights. direct.gov site is good for up-to-date information on maternity rights.

I would just try as much as you can to carry on as normal and remain useful to the team. Without carrying out any dangerous duties: heavy lifting, masking down, extra vigilance with avoiding xrays etc. Essentially you can do as little as you want and wrap yourself in cotton wool, but its a bit unfair to the other staff. When I was pregnant, the only thing I didn't do was topping up iso, mask ga's and having anything to do with administering vincristine etc.

Oh, and congratulations! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.
