Just wondering how many nurses out there run senior pet clinics. Are they successful?
Have nurses set them up and found that clients aren't interested.
We are planning to try and run them but have found that its hard getting clients to take

Re: Senior Pet Clinics

Thanks for the messages, does anyone else have any successful run clinics?

We are only looking at the qualifieds running them, we have a student who should qualify Jan so will be allowed to do them then if she wants.

Re: Senior Pet Clinics

Do you guys think that only qualifieds should be running senior pet clinics? Obviously they are plugging fortekor but def some useful hints in it! May be worth phoning them to see if you can get one.

Re: Senior Pet Clinics

Hi Izzie

I've set up quite a few over the last few years, and are generally successful. However I have found the geriatric clinics a little harder to establish.

Initially I did a mailout to target clients, telling them what we offer and inviting them to book their free appointment - (so do computer reports for years 8+, Juniors - under 1yr, rabbits etc). Once the seniors have been the first time, i try to send reminders to them for their next appointments. It really helps if the vets are pro-active in sending clients your way too. Make sure all staff are aware of the plans, and that you have some good, regular consulting time. I have now got most of the vets sending me weight clnics & these are going really well.

If a few of you are going to do them, have a standard PE checklist and questions to ask. Helps you remember everything! Hills, RC, Virbac do good clinic/client support info so contact them for record books/literature etc.

You will always have the odd few (esp weight clinics) who wont come back, i have a couple i'd gladly never see again :D

Hope this helps

K
