only reason i ask is that it would be great now that

Re: Training with the pdsa

I know of 1 SVN whos a qualified ANA whos being trained to be an RVN through the PDSA but their guinea pigging her & possibly as menetioned above a few others to see how it works 1st is what I've heard.

Re: Training with the pdsa

we are in south wales, i know the PDSA by us are very busy and perhaps they wont have time to become clinical coaches, but a lot of the work is done in the college now and i think students would benifit a great deal from working alongside the RVN and vets here. I t would be wonderful if we could set the pdsa up to be a training practice for free and then they can have students three days a week for free. Maybe time consuming but they will save money i am sure.

We are waiting to here back form PDSA to see what they thoughts are on this, its a shame they dont train. xxx

Re: Training with the pdsa

The PDSA local to me does VN training, as well as the VCA training.

Re: Training with the pdsa

Maybe as it's her 3rd block they're allowing her to stay on? I was hoping to be able to go back as placement during my degree course but as none of their hospitals are TPs any more this isn't possible. I was absolutely gutted. It's because of the amount of time CCs would have to spend with SVNs. They already have vet students on a regular basis and train VCAs, so adding SVNs to the equation would be too much for an already over-stretched staff. Very sad, but it'll do me good to see private practice, get more experience somewhere else and then apply for a job with them when I'm qualified

And, Stuart, you're right - almost every spey is a pyo - one of our vets even operated on a hamster that presented with pyo a few months ago! (it survived and is doing fine).
