That is true, but most colleges arrange that during the course & although I did it many moons ago from what I remember it was so easy a 10 year old could pass them

Yes, you are correct, some colleges put you through the keyskills exam, alongside the ANA, but they are separate exams, all of which have to be passed.

The ANA doesn't entitle you to automatic entry to the VN diploma - you still have to have a GCSE pass or key skills pass in maths and English.

The RCVS will accept alternatives to GCSEs including ND in animal care/animal management, see here:http://awardingbody.rcvs.org.uk/students/a-career-as-a-veterinary-nurse/questions-about-vn-careers/#gcses , and these are just examples so there are probably other qualifications/combinations of qualifications they will accept.

The above link mentions the ND in combination with level 2 in application of number, but the RCVS used to (and maybe still do) accpt the ND itself, providing there are merits or distinctions in some subjects.

I got a D in Maths for my GCSE's but did the national diploma in animal care and this was enough for me to then do my VN training after my diploma.
