Apologies for late reply, Rachel.

I'm gonna be starting the BSc at the RVC in two weeks time. It's fully accredited so I don't also have to do the RCVS exams as well.

It depends largely on where you have done the BSc. The degree programmes differ vastly between different institutions. Out of curiosity, where is it that you are studying?

Hi, there are some on my course who are doing it after degree, think the core modules similar but the optional modules bit more specialised.

Has anyone done the DipAVN after having done the VN BSc? Or does the BSc give you roughly the same amount of insight and knowledge? Am wondering cos I'm starting the BSc in 2 weeks time.

i loved it and am so glad i did it, i do feel a better nurse now because i have a better understanding and you do question things that you do daily in practice and just go along with as given?

it is hard work and very time consuming but i dont regret a minute of it!

Hi, I agree with the above, it encourages you to question more, and also encourages you to look at papers etc and do your own research into things so I feel really beneficial to me. I would highly recommend it.

I found that my knowlege and understanding in the areas that I covered improved, and I've managed to remember more than when I did the NVQ nursing.

I question more stuff now. I don't just take a temperature, resp rate and heart rate, i also think about what it's telling me and how it compares with the last temperature. When reps come round with there new product I'm asking for the research and papers. I'm asking the Vets if I don't understand something. I'm more aware of legislation related to Vets, and Nurses.

The difference with CPD is it's and hour or a day but the Dip AVN is years so the repeating of reading and essays make it all go in a bit better. I have a clearer understanding of what I need to do and look at if I was wanting to learn something.

Sorry I've probably not explained it very well but I'm tired.
