Hi, we got Mabel back unharmed at the weekend. I cannot say any more at the moment for legal reasons but suffice to say she hadn't just got lost!!!

Hi, still no news. We have posters all over wolverhampton (where we think she is) as one of the volunteers took holiday from work and spent the last few days in wolverhampton fly posting and asking other dog walkers for info.

That sounds similar to here. A group of youths adopted a dog. Then came back again bringing a friend who got involved with dog walking. He then came back on his own - as a dogwalker - and swiped Mabel.

We had two dogs stolen from the RSPCA I worked at some years ago. It was claimed that the first one was travellers, who were in the area at the time and used distraction by bringing a large group and then somone else accessing a rear staff entrance to take the dog - it was never proven but thay had visited a few days earlier and shown a lot of interest in that particular area of the kennels.

A very very similar incident to this took place at the RSPCA kennels in Coventry the other week... http://www.rspca-coventry.org.uk/newsview.asp?id=125 There's some very sick people out there :-(

Oh, the poor little thing. I wondered why anyone would steal her if she's up for adoption.

I hope she is found and the thieves/dog fighters are beaten with sticks. (thats probably not going to happen, though, is it?)

Thanks. I have a couple of updates from the kennels:

"A man who goes by the name of Leon took Mabel, he is around 20years, mixed race, distinctive green eyes, possibly drives a fiesta and has connections in the Wolverhampton area. He has previously walked up to a man in a park in wolverhampton and commented on how nice his staffies were!! Mabel was stolen when taken out for a walk by a dog walker, he had previously walked her so knew what she was like, he may have had someone lined up to take her once he had her. Mabel is dog aggressive and might be in the illegal dog fighting circles."

Thanks for bringing this to attention! My mum runs the council stray dogs home for North Shropshire, we'll have to keep an eye out for any one like this! Hope they get her back.
