Well there are loads of lovely walks around my area (and Phrin's!) in the Peak District and also several regular walking groups who do free rambles which I can send you links for if ever you're up this way. I can also send you info re local campsites although can't offer the company for the tent part

I'm Southampton way.

I will probably have to do more day walking anyway becase I work nearly everyday...... ........ I would like to be able to make plans for bank hols weekends when I'm more likely to be off. I like some of your suggestions I will bare them in mind.

I'd love to take my cats but I'm sure there would be too many dogs, the cats would love it other than that.

We're taking the cat camping this coming weekend only because she's on Synulox (again ) and MIL has refused to take her in cos last time it gave her diahrroea and she poo-ed all over their house. My neighbour feeds the others but there is no way he'd get pills down Lucy as she's a psycho, so the only way round it is to take her with us and let her share the dog crate You gotta larf.....

Were you referring to me? I may love walking (not too far) but I definitely don't do camping! Too many creepy crawlies, nowhere to plug my straighteners in and like to come home to my memory foam mattress after a walk! Plus, sunshine is non-negotiable on my holidays.

I'm in the same boat tbh Dippy - me and little man regularly camp in Edale - just the two of us, and I only dare wander about 30 mins walking before I turn back!

If anyone fancys a VN camp out in the Hope Valley I'd be up for it

Which part of the country are you in/prefer to go to? I managed to find several walking groups in my part of the world online but they all seem to be day walks rather than camping ones.

Yes I am an ex guider and have helped out at a few weekend camps - they are good for getting you out and about at minimal cost.

Scouting! I am a scout leader and although I am very dedicated and spend a lot of my spare time organising activities, most groups are always grateful for any amount of time you can give (we're big on "flexible volunteering!" and there's plenty of opportunities for camping and outdoor activities. We camp 5-6 times a year and there is a Scout and Guide Mountaineering group in our area who organise walking and hiking from novice to advanced levels, for adults and youngsters.

Being part of Scouting has helped make me the person I am today and I get so much out of it. Hoping to go to the next World Scout Jamboree in Japan 2015!
