HI All,

I found paper 2 really hard, I passed Paper one and Paper two with good marks and failed paper two by only 3%!! How annoying. I do feel its because of the amount of equine questions, I was totally unprepared for this and I felt like we had alot of questions on equine, I tried to answer them the best I could, but fear I guessed and did the good old "if in doudt put C". We did a small amount of theory at college unfortuanately, but this may be because the college did not realise the extent of the questions. I feel the RCVS could have prepared us better, by prehaps given a more up to date version of practise papers, this may have helped a great deal.

I have to re take paper 2 in November, I have bought a new book which has alot of equine topics in, so I have started to revise this so I will hopefully pass second time round. I feel I want to appeal to the RCVS, but i'm not really sure it will get me anywhere, will speak to the tutors at college and see what they suggest.

Oh and Tash well done in passing all your exams sounds like you did extremely well x

These are links to other topics posted shortly after the exams. Sounds like there was a lot of horse related stuff, which would throw nurses in a small animal clinic. Glad I did my NVQ, horse stuff doesn't really interest me, but I worry for my students. As a clinical coach I should be able to teach them about all this stuff but having no idea about them.......I fear I may fail as a coach!

Our student had a similar prob passed paper 1 and 3 but failed 2 by 1% which is frustrating but when we asked which questions she struggled it was mostly the equine ones but she has had no real theoretical lectures on equine husbandry wounds etc.

I passed this paper with a good percentage (as not to sound bitter, rather than gloating!) but we actually had no equine theory lessons what-so-ever. So I doubt very much it was down to ignorance on the students' part.

I also found the paper 2 pass rate low. However I know a lot of people are saying it was because of the equine questions (and maybe im a bit bias because i work in an equine practice!) but the colleges & everyone that was sitting the papers knew that there would be equine questions in them. From talking to girls in my class that are in small animal practice they said they were totaly ignoring the equine parts of it. so maybe thats got something to do with the low passmarks ? just a thought :)

I know, I think that its all the equine questions. Myself I felt not quite prepared for that level of equine questions.

Where do you find out pass rates from? Paper 2 was my strongest, it was paper 3 I found most difficult!

I was pretty shocked by the low pass rate too....I wonder if the equine stuff really flummoxed people?

Looking back at previous pass rates, around 80%, it's really low.

I think it's due to all the horse bits!! I found paper 2 alot harder than paper 1 x
