In early December we rescued a neutered male tabby cat, approx 1 year old from CPL, he settled in brilliantly and usually goes out at night, sleeps all day, and is treated like a king.
A few years ago our tabby went missing for a while then one night turned up with a sparkly new collar and a note saying "if you're my owner ring this number". He'd moved in a few blocks up the road! The same cat used to disappear every year on the weekend of the FA Cup Final. After 4 years of him doing this we kept him in from the Friday morning before He has to stay in now cos although we moved to our house 8 years ago he still returns to the flats we used to live in..... Our eldest cat used to sit outside the corner shop over the road cos she knew people would fuss her. Trouble is she is old and becoming skinny and has the odd patch of scaley skin (she's 18 now, this was a couple of years ago). A lady decided she must be a stray and took her home. It was only after we put a notice in the shop window that she realised what she'd done and we got the cat back!

We also went through a stage of someone in the neighbourhood leaving opened cans of sardines in the alleyway next to our house, so although we could see the cats they wouldn't come in or let us catch them - why should they when I was gonna feed them dry biscuits??!!

It's all quietened down now as we only have 2 that actually go out - they're all ancient and like to sleep rather than spend energy leaving the house

Ooh, I hate it when people feed strange cats! They have no idea how upsetting this can be to the true owners! Especially when they decide to make up their own minds whether the cat needs 'feeding up' or not, what if the cat has dietary requirements, i.e. diabetic?
