Had a client call today asking for costs as the insurers want it done before agreeing to a policy

I know another, they're best mates with the animals but not with the owners. lol

Re: Insurance
I do our insurance forms and iv never heard of this? There are more and more companies all the time so maybe just never stumbled across this as yet but sounds a bit random? Iv been asked for histories, chipping, vaccs, even if the pet is overweight but not scores. Would recommend that they look into this esp in a neutered dog?!
I agree - advise the owner to look a bit farther afield and consider other ins companies. I can see how this might become a good thing if all ins companies started asking for this for certain breeds, as it may put backyard/puppy farm breeders at a disadvantage, but IME the companies that ask tons of questions, or have lots of small print restrictions tend to be the ones that almost never pay out... a certain company comes to mind - two letters seperated by '&'

And although it may put back yard / puppy farmer breeders at a disadvantage, how may potential new pet owners are savvy enough to realise that a lack of hip/elbow scores, heart tests etc may mean that their pet won't be insurable? Decent breeders almost always give 4 weeks free insurance...

Re: Insurance

I do our insurance forms and iv never heard of this? Usually a health check with vaccines and dental checks up to date and kept up to date each year is all that is required. If from rescue centre with no history, usually a health check from the vet is all that is requred, with the usual 14 day exclusion period.
