My 15yr old lurcher has started doing this, approx 10 times in last three weeks. She's bright and happy. I know I need to get vet to see her but she's terrified of vets and I'm terrified what news might be :-(

Re: Regurgitation in dogs - causes pls

hopefully you wil be feeding her from a raised height and not from the floor as this will aid any food going down.
Make sure she doesn't bolt her food down, if she does i would start feeding little and often, if its dry food, try adding water to it.
Monitor her weight too.

hope she sorts her self out.

Re: Regurgitation in dogs - causes pls

it could be any number of things hun, she could have developed a megaoesophagus, she could have oesophagitis (could she have eaten something that's irritated her oesophagus?) she could have developed an oesophageal motility problem, she could have a stricture (again could she have eaten something hot...seen this happen with a hot potato and a hot sausage), she may have reflux for some reason, it could possibly be something more sinister but there are loads of other causes.

10 times in 3 weeks isn't too much, ideally you would want a barium swallow fluoroscopy study done to assess motility/reflux issues
