If these people aren't being prosecuted then surely the law needs to be changed. These people disgust me, it brought tears to my eyes.

Also signed and discusted! Can't believe nobody is getting prosecuted over this when there's video evidence! Surely it shouldn't matter how it was filmed, it's what it shows that matters?! There's just no excuse for animals being treated this way and everyone turning a blind eye!

Signed and absolutely disgusted - had to stop watching the video half way through it just upset me so much!

All animals deserve dignity in death, even with slaughter.

A practice I used to work in used to do meat work and whilst our vet wasnt at the abbatoir every day I know we had a vet there a couple of times a week (I dont think they used to slaughter every day it was only a small family run place - and was pretty well run by all accounts) I know we sometimes had to send out a vet for casualty slaughters if an animal came in off a lorry injured or if there were any suspicions re its health. My boss felt that each member of the practice team should visit with him just once so we all understood how the Sunday roast got to the table.

I was shocked no one was getting prosecuted. I read in the paper there was lots of footage and hours and hours of recordings but no Vet was seen. I don't understand how it works but does this mean they were never inspected? If so they should be getting prosecuted etc for that.

Disgusted by the behaviour of the people whom we entrust so make sure the end of these animals' lives are the way it should be...calm and respectful.

Signed by a former veggie(almost 20 years) who strongly believes we can raise and slaughter animals for food in a caring, compassionate and respectful manner....exactly what ANY animal is entitled to.

I also agree with everything that has been said (and signed yesterday) but it's an interesting point that we consider in this country that better meat is produced by the animals being less stressed, yet in places where they eat dogs and cats (I'm sure we've all seen the photos and documentaries of them crammed into tiny cages in markets) they consider that better meat is produced due to the adrenaline surge at the end produced by fear.

That's not really relevant to our abbatoirs by the way, it was just something which popped into my head!!!

You have pretty much said what I was going to.

I am now a meat eater after 20 odd years of being vegetarian I know exactly where my meat comes from it is locally reared and slaughtered. I support the aims of this petition whole heartedly so long as it isnt going to turn into a heated discussion group that says everybody should be vegetarian and all meat eaters are bad which has happened so many times before. So I will hang fire from signing for now until I can be sure.

Signed. Totally shocking behaviour. This needs to be stopped, no animal deserves to be treated in that way. Meat needs to be slaughtered for us to eat it, but there is no way animals should be subjected to this brutal cruelty. Seeing how those poor pigs were treated brought tears to my eyes
