But was thinking about possibly looking for work in the future which is suitable for VNs but outside of clinical practice. I was thinking food, pharmaceutical or pet insurance

Re: alternative VN jobs?

Hiya!

I started in Vet practice in 2000 and after 5 years i decided i no longer wanted to work in practice so initially worked for a Veterinary Pharmaceutical company dealing with technical enquiries, working on product information etc and from that i found i really enjoyed marketing. I worked outside the industry to complete my marketing training but missed it so much, I then joined Royal Canin which i love, i get the best of both worlds. I get to visit practices, help clients alongside campaign and launch plans, practice support and now i am working on initiatives specifically for nurses. Ive never been happier. Vacancies are often in VNT/VT but there are agencies who specialise in placing Vets/nurses in industry - they also advertise in VNT/VT so its worth contacting them and submitting your CV.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do - if you need any more information please let me know

I love designing posters, new ideas, organising the staff training and speaking to clients... unfortunately that job doesn't exsist!

Rep jobs are usually advertised now and again in VN times and Vet times!
