your practice are going to gain from you undertaking this qualification. Maybe you could not take CPD thru the course of your studies? you shouldnt be expected to take holiday to go on a course

Ha ha all my books are hidden away in various places around my house....!! Yeah 500 words sounds good, i was gonna aim for a couple of sides of A4 or so, but i'll probably end up chattering on! Cardiff is a bit of a trek! are you going to be staying over on the study weekends?

[/quote]Its a shame that we cant just submit the essay which is what they do at Myerscough. Going to have to memorise what I write! Plan to stay over for study weekends but will only be able to attend the compulsary one at the start of each unit as wont be able to afford to do the optional ones with travel, time off work and hotels.

I didn't need to go till I picked my subjects in the second year and only went for 1 week to each practice. It was really good fun and the vets were really informative on what they were doing and why. I learned a lot and got to see MRI scanning and some more professional views with the ultrasound, even got to have a play and was taught a few moves to find organs.

That's a good start. If your planning on doing diagnostic imaging I would suggest you get a book on this subject too

yes it is best to have a mentor within practice and usually. not sure it has to be a vet am sure a nurse who has already undertaken Diploma would be sufficient.

The support varies from practice to practice.

I'm only about an hour from Harper but a lot of people on my course travel 2-3 hours +, if you are doing 2 modules it usually works out at a fri and sat so you can stay over.

What sort of support do you get in practice?, am i right in thinking you have to have a vet as a mentor ?

When you start it, would you mind keeping updates on here, so i can see roughly how much time you have to spend each night doing it. Im scared i would not have the time to dedicate to it. Would really like to do it but not sure. Alot of things worry me about it.

Thanks for the info guys. Has put my mind at rest a lot. How many cases on average would you have to do then as I was under the impression that it was loads like the NVQ.

Hi! I only got my interview date through on Saturday so only had time to book the day off!! The essay question looks pretty straight forward to be fair though.....famous last words!!

I have been looking into this or something like it. But thought as i work in first opinion practice, i would really struggle to get the cases. I have never done the referencing thing, and not that good at essay writing i dont think?

would you say i have any chance at this? or give up ? hmmm

When i did my BTEC diploma in animal care i passed with distinction, but i think its very different.

any advice very appreciated good or bad. thanks.
