Basically, due to a huge screw up at my previous placement, my portfolio wasnt finished. So ive been working my *** off to get it finished and finally sent it to my uni last week. I mentioned what you guys have said about cross referencing, and apparently this can only be done if you are transferring to the new RCVS award with the new exams. But im transferring on to the transitional award because ive allready done my level 2 exam!

SO back to the stressed, hair pulling for me.

Re: NPL..length of time?

Thanks guys, i feel much better about it now. In the space of under 3 months we have done the whole thing, we are a very busy practice but the student and i do her NPL at home so as long as you have a good clinical coach youll be able to get it done no problem.

Re: NPL..length of time?

What Lucy said is correct, you will not have to complete all of the units. You will be given access to the units that you need to complete so you will need to do every unit that is live on your NPL. It is your uni that will get you set up on the NPL but the log-in details have to come from the RCVS. I imagine that they won't be issued until after you are certficated for your portfolio. Once your uni has received your log-in from the RCVS it will take them about 2 minutes to get you up and running.

Good luck with it all x

Re: NPL..length of time?

Thanks lucy-lu! I had no idea about the cross matching, ive done my level 2 portfolio too,so ill make sure my uni do that! 8 units sounds a lot more doable in 6 months than an entire NPL.

I need to stop getting myself all stressed! I just cant wait to graduate, get my red badge and just have the normal things to stress about in life! lol

Thanks again

Re: NPL..length of time?

If you have completed alot of your portfolio then your uni can use that as evidence for your N.P.L. Therefore you may not have to complete all of it, (I have a student who did her level 2 portfolio so only has 8 N.P.L units to complete this year). I would definately get your skills cross matched.

I have 3 students at 3 different levels. We are a busy practice and I am also the P.M/Head nurse and still in the rota for nursing. It is achievable if you have a fab team supporting you like I have. You need to work out with your uni and your clinical coach.

Try not to stress and good luck. All your hard work will be worth it.
