Thanks guys! Think we were pretty much on track, but just wanted to check how other people had done it. Have nearly finished the portfolio, just got these last few scopes to cover, so fingers crossed it'll all be done soon! Can't wait!

We covered PC4 by making sure the student wrote about holding swabs on tissue to stem minor haemmorhage (haven't got the standards in front of me, but is it something like 'apply surgical materials at the correct location'?). Think it's also been covered when my student scrubbed in with me placing a wound drain and helped pull the drain through into the right place.

For the implants we covered/planning to cover any ortho op involving plates or pins, but use other PCs (sorry don't have them in front of me).

There's another tricky PC that is something like 'attach surgical equipment' that sounds a bid dogdy (especially when one of the scopes for 'equipment' is 'powered equipment', like the VN would doing the be drilling!), I think we did this by the nurse using retractors.

I hate this......the standards should fit the job, rather than us having to fit the job to cover the standards!!!

just had a peek at the OS for you

10.1 is assist in providing equipment

10.2 is assist in performing the surgery

ive checked my L3 portfolio and I covered it simplying by saying for 10.1 that I passed it to the vet and the same for 10.2, just reference it with PC's and you should be fine.

for example

PC2 on 10.1 is provide equipment and materials, this can be related to scope ciii (implants) because you were scrubbed in (pc1) and you made sure the pin/plate/screw etc was the corect one required for the procedure (pc2) you maintained steriltiy at all times by placing it on your tray/drape (pc3) so it was ready for when your surgeon needed it.

10.2

you were scrubbed in (pc1) and when then surgeon asked you to pass them the correct piece of equipment you did so to their hand (PC2 & 4) (the location they needed to be in) *scope biii (implants)
