We haven't done anything for the last 2 years, not because we're short of ideas but because it takes place in July - the holiday hot spot month! We have too little staff as it is to exhaust any more man power on any other project than caring for our patients.

Also, all the local shows and fairs take place in June so we've missed all them oppurtunities.

Bottom line, I don't think July is a good month - you can't even go in to schools and do talks because they're all finished for the summer!

maybe it didnt really go wrong - not everybody is in with the BVNA , and maybe some people just choose to promote veterinary nursing every day of the year

there seemed to be a lot of apathy about to from the nurses i know, noone was prepared to make a go of anything and certinly not to do anything outside their normal hours or duties. im only a part timer so its easier for me but for those working full time shifts it needs to be a whole team effort or its not fair.

sad really, but i just didnt have the confidence to do an event off my own back

maybe next year......

Its just really hard to arrange events like this.

What might have been nice is to get a couple of people from different practices together and have one large event, for example having certain areas/districts or counties to come together- this way only a couple of people from each practice can go so there is no worry about being under staffed

We are similar except for we didn't really get round to thinking too much about it because of time....... would love to organise things but it is the same old story.... never enough time to do it, always something imediate to do etc etc etc

We had loads of ideas in our practice but then the reality of us ever managing to get the time to organise or execute those ideas hit. There was no way we would have managed it, so nothing happened at our surgery and I never saw anything anywhere about any other local practices partaking in VN week either.

Very true, we had a 'open day' at one of our branches instead of having an event away from the practice. It would have been too much hassle if an emergency case came in and we are short staffed because we had an event away from the practice

We did reduced micro chipping on Wednesday plus a competition. We had a little stand with 2 nurses and rotated with all our nursing team. It was a good day xxx
