this is now for 33 weeks, so you get paid for 9 months, with 3 months unpaid leave.

Re: Calling all mums on Maternity leave (or recently been)...
I'm 33wks pregnant and currently on mat leave.. as stated, it's 90% of your wage for the 1st 6wks, then £128 for the remaining leave..

I'm actually fuming with my employer.. apparently i've not paid enough NI (been employed for 11yrs with the same employer!) so will have to go through job centre for my mat leave.. I started my leave July 11th, still not had an SMP1 form yet, and was told I wont til end of the month - THEN it takes 3-4wks to get through the application process for maternity allowance.. so I will be without pay / money for at least 6/7 weeks!!! not good!!!

Re: Calling all mums on Maternity leave (or recently been)... Yeah this is what i was afraid would be the case!!

Would be lovely to have full pay for a while Haha!!! But at least i get something!!

And yeah the doing more OT does make sense!!

Thanks.... Jax X

Re: Calling all mums on Maternity leave (or recently been)... RVN. NCert A&CC

hi

if you are getting smp (statatory mat pay) this is 90% of your salary for the first 6 weeks followed by the £128 for 26 weeks ish. your employer may offer more money but this is the minimum that you can legally get. also the 90% is worked out on the last 8 weeks of earnings before you go on mat leave so if you can, try and do as much overtime as poss during these last 8 weeks as it will bump up you 90% earnings if that makes sense!!!

you are entitle to take 52 weeks off but the last 6 months is unpaid. you will however still earn holiday entitlement during this time so if you are not planning on returning to work, you are financially better off not to hand your notice in until your mat leave ends as you will then be owe 4 weeks holiday pay. i no its a bit naughty but you have to look after your self!

hope this makes sense!
