Has anyone had one? Little bit worried.. Not sure what to expect with it. Does it take a long time?

Re: CT scan

Aw dont worry, Ive had a CT scan. If you need contrast they may make you drink several glasses of liquid, it tastes a bit yuk but no bother really. They also may inject you with some - that feels warm and may make you feel like you need a pee.

Good luck :-)

Re: CT scan

Nope was defo a CT scan. It doesn't take me long to fall asleep if I'm comfy enough

Re: CT scan
I had one and fell asleep. Kinda warm and oddly comfortable.

Don't worry. You'll be grand!
Think you're thinking of an MRI which take a considerably longer time than a CT scan.

Re: CT scan

I had one and fell asleep. Just stay as still as you can.You might need an i/v if they are using contrast but that isnt bad either

Re: CT scan

CT scans don't take long at all. Its much like a open ended washing machine which you pass through several times. All depends whether you need to have contrast media or not.

I think your thinking of an MRI where examinations can take between 10-60mins depending on the area of the body under examination.

have a read of this http://www.goingfora.com/radiology/ct_room.html

Hopefully it will put you mind at ease.
