Our practice has just being bought by Vets4Pets. We all feel a little shocked and unnerved. Obviously we have heard lots of "things" about them, about having to meet targets and sell. Has anyone else being through

Re: New management.

Hiya,

I currently work for Vets4Pets and as Sal has said it's pretty much like any other corporate, each practice is given targets which your partner should share with you in regular meetings. Some do, some don't.

There are certain products/initiatives that you will be required to promote and sell where possible and sometimes there are staff initiatives for this aswell.

The main difference I found from moving into corporate is the fact that all the marketing is done externally by the support office such as reminders/new client letters etc. Sometimes this is a good thing.... except if something goes out incorrectly but this is not the end of the world. There are both national campaigns but there may also be local ones that are designed for your practice individually.

If you have a good partner then they should keep you informed of all this and nothing should come as a surprise so it just depends on the management style and the team you're working within.

Look at it with an open mind and just see what happens though!

Hope it all goes well for you and your practice :-)

Re: New management.

I work for a corporate as well and i had my reservations before taking the job. But i have to say its not nearly as bad as i thought. Yes there are targets and prefered medications, but animal welfare and good customer service are the most important things and its really nice having a structured system of managment. There are corporates that i still wouldn't work for but i would give it an open minded chance.

Re: New management.

I work for a corporate and its not as bad as you hear, really it doesnt affect the nurses at all, we are meant to promote one type of flea preparation but its the one we were using anyway so no change there.

I dont know if it really affects the vets much either, i mean they do have targets but we are a busy practice so those targets are hit every month with ease.

As nurses we dont have targets or dont have to sell anything that we wouldnt have done in the past, i would just wait and see what happens, and dont worry

Re: New management.

no different from any other corporate - yes everything is target driven
