We have decided to set up a payment plan for some of our clients.
The PP is to help clients pay on a regular basis for money that is already owing. We tell our clients that we would be happy if they pay a set amount off each week and most do

Re: Setting up a payment plan for clients

I think it is ok to set up a standing order or it was at one point, but not a direct debit it would depend on what sort of plan you wanted and yes look into it.

Re: Setting up a payment plan for clients

I have worked a couple of places where direct debit agreements have been made - but this has generally been after a debt collection agency or scc has been involved. I think we used to have in ours the date of direct debit and amount etc and also that if dd was cancelled or the client defaulted on the agreed payment plan prior to the amount being cleared that the client would forfeit the right to future payment plans and that the whole oustanding amount would then be payable. To be honest they didnt work that well and often resulted in a further trip to scc with associated expense to practice. Pre payment plans worked much better where clients paid in so much monthly towards boosters and flea tx and wormers etc. I do recall us using a solicitor to draw up the exact wording.
