No didnt have to wait a certain amount of time, but my assessor had to write a letter showing a revision plan that was going to be set up, and i had to show proof of revision courses i was going to attend, i think as long as they are satisfied that u are going to do this it seemed ok, of course im not saying that it may not go thru, but past friends in same predicament havnt had a problem,The only thing i was told , was that if i had failed my 4th attempt then i would have to take a year out from studying, ets, (wouldnt affect my job) and that i would have to repeat a year of college again.

best bet is to ring rcvs and have a chat with them, itl be fine , so dont worry

Hi,

As far as I am aware the RCVS are under no obligation to allow you to sit the paper for the 4th time. However, I know of students that have been given permission to do this but the College had to put on additional revision sessions for them. I wouldn't worry about it at this time because hopefully you will pass this time around! If worse comes to the worse then you can contact the RCVS then.

I have been told different things, I have been told that you have to go back to college for a year and sit in the classes that relate to that paper. So you can not re take for another year??

Also been told by a friend of mine that works at a college and teaches animal care that she knows of a student that failed her 3rd attempt and the RCVS refused her a 4th attempt as she got below 40% on all papers. I can see why this is the case. So they must judge on the individual marks etc.

Did you have to wait a certain amount of time before you were allowed to sit the exam?

i needed to pass just paper 2 on my level 3, it was my fourth and final attempt, to get qualified,i had to get special permission from rcvs to sit for the 4th time, i had to prove in writing to them, that i was attending a revision course and that appropriate support was being given to me at work, it was pretty easy enough, and thankfully i qualified on my final attempt phew!!!
