Can anyone please help? This blooming assigments, I'm really struggling to understand what they want regarding layout? Do you write each case up individually trying to cover relevant criteria in each case? I've completed all mine now and my colleges layout was introduction about the assignment, then each individual case intro, veterinary treatment and diagnosis, nursing needs and treatment and then a discussion. the most important apart of the assignment is your discussion/reflection as its your prove of identifying problem areas and best practice. My college made us a layout but it is taken directly from the handbook. have a look through it and it specifys which standards are included in assignments just work through them in order and they only have to be covered once in the whole assignment not the indvidual cases. I hope this helps! x

Re: level 3 assignments

The nursing colleges are all being given different advice from the RCVS regarding how the assignments should be approached. Your college will be marking the assignment, so all you can do is follow their advice - which may be completely different from the other colleges.

Re: level 3 assignments

I dont care either a pass is a pass dosent matter what % you get at the end of the day, it wont get ya eny more doe for getting a credit.

I totally agree bring back the portfolio! I loved my 1st year portfolio and was very proud of it The NPL is horrible, its more designed for people with no knowlegde of vet nursing at all(school leaver) totally does not work well for people that have been in practice for years and a CC that only works 2 days!

Even after all the assignments are over thats still not it, the seen and unseen examinations and practicles are still to come! oh joy, I will be a nervous wreck by the end of it all! xxx

Re: level 3 assignments

I agree! not enough hours in the day. it will be interesting to see the pass/fail percentages, totally agree with you Shona, its all a bit too much to do in the 2 years. Thats my first year done and its only goin to get more stressful this coming year, its the essays that bug me I haaaaaaaate essays!! x

Re: level 3 assignments

im hating these assignments, we have been allocated on 3500 words for the whole assignment!! so i finding it hard to fill them with the detail without blabing on but still get my point across. i have no idea what they really want us to cover to be honest and i have done one the critical care case i just spoke abt the nursing we did for this case then talked abt what the best practice is the books say. then i looked at the scope and tried to add it in where i could.

people might think im a bit werid but i would love to have the porfolio back any day!! i do think each college have different ways of settin out the assignments ours u just have to cover the scope doesnt matter which cases u add it into, but may be link it so if u had an animal in on a drip for the critical care then talk abt the scope that links to catheters.

i would love to see a layout and i do think the royal college should have set a draft copy just so we have an idea of what they want. im just aiming for a pass to be honest lol

RCVS should of just let us finsih the course we started, so much more work and stress for no more money!

Re: level 3 assignments

Unfortunately we are the first years to do them, so ours will be the examples :-/

One of our nurses that started the hybrid course in May has had examples shown to her (highly unfair) but her college is saying that they dont need to go into as much detail as what our college is saying (which is a bit worrying). We also have to do extra simmilar assignments to complete for our blended learning, and despite the depth we went into, the classes highest grade was 85%! This doesnt sound bad at all, except when you think that other colleges are saying that you dont need to go into so much depth...

Theyre confusing me to be honest as no one knows whats what (even the royal college). Im just aiming to pass and then i'll be happy! :)

Re: level 3 assignments

I have looked through the other posts but still confused, which for me is easily done! I don't think there's a set way to lay it out as long as you have the introduction, the cases, and the discussion making sure you cover all the scope and have good references.

The different colleges seems to been saying different things I think it would be better if the RCVS gave us a example like they did with the communication assignments in 1st year, I think that would help us immensely. xxx

Re: level 3 assignments

Ive done all mine with an intoduction, then the cases, and then an overall discussion (to include to parts i hadnt included if required).
