Im not sure if i have swallows or swifts around my house is there an easy way to tell the difference? They such fast wee buggers it`s hard to get a good look at them.....
Emma... you probably have both but swifts are really fast and really noisy..... black/brown, screaming and whizz past or above you!

http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/s/swift/index.aspx

Have a look on the RSPB bird id page to see if that helps.... they have a recording of them as well......

He'd come out for a fly every afternoon and land on the pergola of the house across the road from us.
Not relevant to this as non-UK but am just back from Cyprus 9again!) and we had literally dozens of them dive bombing our infinity pool on the hillside late afternoon every day for a drink.
That sounds amazing .... I love hearing their screams... for me the beginning of summer is when I first hear them back in the uk, 1st May, and the end of summer is when they disappear, usually around the 1st August.........

Re: Swift Sightings....
