I am very interested in this course and gutted that they are no longer intending to run it. I have also emailed the college about a month ago and had no reply.There are other exotic course but none are as well known as this one.

Just got this reply so looks like the course might not disappear completely ............

At present Telford is not intending to offer this course. I am however hopeful that I will be able to offer this course in the near future and if this happens there will be an announcement in the veterinary press. At present unfortunately I cannot tell you any more Kind regards Simon

His practice in Scotland are actually offering a nursing position atm and it mentions further exotic qualifications.....so maybe there is a way around. Definately worth enquiring!! He is a very nice guy and will be more than happy to help im sure.

Simon Girling (one of the zoo vets) wrote the course check him out in the rcvs details and contact him he may be able to help/advise

It looks like this course is gonna just disappear......city and guilds don`t seem too concerned about it either! Grrrr im raging i really wanted to do it

Well I had a reply......

Thank you for contacting City & Guilds Customer Relations.

You will have to log onto our website www.cityandguilds.com and on your right hand side you will have the "qualification finder". Enter the course you wish to study (exotics or 0074) and it will bring up the only qualification we have with the title "Certificate and Diploma In Animal Care and Managment", Once you have opend the following link you will find a small red box on your right hand side. Please enter your post code in the box and it will bring up all the approved City & Guilds centres that are able to offer this course within a 50 mile radius of your address.

Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact the Customer Relations team on 0844 543 0033.

So as you can see NOT helpful as it just pointed me to the Animal Care course.......no mention of exotic course on their website

I just went onto their home page and filled out an online enquiry form. I got an automated reply saying they would be in touch within two working days. Yeah i hope it gets run somewhere else was really looking forward to doing it :(

When I spoke to C&G they were not helpful at all.....will email them as well as I would love to do the course....did the nutritional one in 2002........lets hope they decide to run it at a nw location!!!!! Oh which email did you use? x

I emailed city and guilds aswell today. I haven`t heard back yet but maybe if enough people get in touch with them they`ll decide to run the course somewhere else. I would also be interested to hear if anyone knows of any similar courses....i`m more interested in the birds/wildlife side of it than reptiles etc.

Hey, I've been wanting to do this course too, I also phoned Telford this morning and they said they definitely do not run it anymore. I contacted City & Guilds and they said they would look into it and email me if they decided to run it at another location. Anyone have any ideas on something similar or what we can do if they decide not to run it at all?

Thats a real shame its been dropped, I did the course with Telford the 2nd year it was out and thouroughly enjoyed it, hopefully somewhere else will start doing it soon.

Yeah i spoke to them this morning. She was still a bit vague but said the fact that it is no longer listed in the courses section of their website means it will probably be cancelled. Crap one. Thought i might try and contact City and Guilds and see if they have any more info.

Telford is the only one I know of. I spoke to them about 2 weeks ago because I am interested in the course and was told that they may still be running it. Said that it wasn't confirmed yet. Have you spoken to them recently?
