I have worked with a number of Italian vets, I recall an experienced nurse having a few teething problems but one in particular turned out to be a very good friend of mine. As you say, it takes them a while to learn how to utilise their nurses!

Re: Italian Vets

I have worked with 2. They told me that they dont have VN's in Italy and it can be difficult to find a job as a vet when qualified so most newly qualified's work in a nursing type role, assisiting the experienced vets. Because of this they were both very happy to do 'nurse' type jobs like setting up for ops etc. (I have worked with some vets who dont even know how to set up a circuit!) I found working with them very enjoyable.

Re: Italian Vets

a generalisation maybe - but then the question was very general. Yes they can be very different but so can any person.

Re: Italian Vets

A bit of a generalisation don't you think?! You have to take into account that they are not used to working with veterinary nurses (our excellent training can be a bit of a novelty), but otherwise they are all individual like any other person regardless of nationality.

I say this because I work with a number of Italian vets, alongside other nationalities, and they are all very different. Once they understand what vet nurses are capable of the working relationship can be very rewarding.

Generally I get on with them very well. I have found that the ones that have been qualified for some time and have some experience are some of the best vets i have ever worked with in general practice and I can think of one extremely good orthopod in particular.

Re: Italian Vets

I've worked with a few and once you get used to them and their ways I have had no problems at all same as any vet from any country (I have worked with many different nationalities)
