AAAAAARGH!

Ive been meeting up with one of the girls from college and we have been doing study sessions together. Its really helpful, we come up with stupid ways to remember things e.g. manual handling operations regulations 1992 - a man of 92 cant lift things (92 being the year of the act). Sounds daft but it works for us. Might be worth a try for you too

Re: Revision Motivation

One word; procrastination!

I've got my first exam in two weeks. I've been revising for ages now, but I feel its been paying off. I have been watching videos on youtube to help me see things visual, as reading stuff doesn't always sink in with me. But making tables, using flash cards and spider diagrams help me alot and using different highlighter colours to illustrate the important bits.

Like everyone else has mentioned re - wirte things out over and over again, then keep reading it over and over again. I'm hoping this technic will work for me.

Oh, do you not have a study week at college. I am currently at one this week, its only been day one and already I have found it really helpful

Re: Revision Motivation

Hiya

Im in the same boat as you!!-First year exams and just dnt have the motivation or a way that sticks in my head!! Soo annoying!! I find a way which helps me is that someone asks me questions. So going through our college folders and just choosing a random question to ask me-thats how I tend to revise but its just finding someone to do it which is the problem. Hope this help!

Good luck for your exams!

They worked really well. Also I took a set of notes and wrote questions that I thought that I should remember/know about that section.
Flash cards - One side would ask (for EG) (Hormone name) Is produced where? The other side would have the answer. They are small so you can carry them round and pull them out whenever you have 5 mins spare - waiting for bus, kettle to boil etc!

Second - Study group. Order a pizza and study with friends. You will find that everyone has different areas of strength - so they can help you, while you help them in your fave area!

I have an exercise book and write things out over and over and re-read it all, every page, just before going to sleep. Then I test myself on it in the morning.
I probably went overboard with things from time to time but it served me well. I find that sitting staring at books and so on was not the best method to get things into my head, but chatting with others about study topics (my other half is an RVN too so it was good having someone to throw ideas at and have someone to point out what was right or wrong in my thinking of things).

There are lots of online nursing aids out there too, doing past papers of multiple choice questions can help highlight specific areas where you might need to focus and sometimes just getting started is half the battle, so MCQ's may not seem like much in the way of studying but its a good step in the right direction!

good luck for your exams :D
