thanks guys, think she has decided not to return, why do places treat good staff like this, its beyond me, if you have a good member of staff wouldnt u do your upmost to keep them!!! god so infuriating. i see this daily where i work too

I would say call BVNA help line if member. if not join and call. they will have much better idea of what is happening x x

[/quote] I was just thinking the same- C.A.B would be a good source of info and I have heard of a few friends that found working out their notice to be stressful and their G.P signed them off but I dont know all the details.

A friend of mine was in a similar situation although she had already been signed off sick with stress and depression for 2 weeks when she handed her notice in. She never went back to the job and got signed off for the rest of her notice period. The company never took any action but as to whether they could if they wanted to im not sure of the legality.

If she isnt bothered about references or pay then to be honest id be inclined to just say leave now and dont go back, i would certainly do the same myself in the same situation

the job she is going onto know her well, and she hasnt needed references, she has 2 references already from other managers at her place she is not in the veterinary world but catering, they are making it pretty unpleasant for her at the mo thats wats getting her down, she has always been a good member of staff and was promoted 4 mths ago, they promised all sorts to her but havnt delivered she sallaried for 37.5 hrs a week does 50+ but no extra in her salary, works bank holidays with no day off in leiu or extra time, ive said she should try to stick it out but after seeing the state she was in today im not so sure.

I would advise if your daughter can stick it out for the last week it would be best for her. As her next employer is entitled to ask about sick leave that involves mental health issues ( sadly this does include depression) and the employer she is leaving may refuse to give a reference in future. Technically speaking they cannot give a bad reference but a refusal speaks the same volumes, and if the job she is moving to doesn't work out she will need to fall back on recommendations.
