I pay BT about £40 for home phone and broadband. I also pay sky £21 for basic package plus kids & docs!

Its expensive living rural!

know that feeling - I used to pay 21 quid for broadband, phone and telly with Virgin when I lived in town - here I pay 35 just for internet and phone

We are with BT, it used to cost us almost £60 a month, my partner called up saying we were switching to Virgin and to cancel our contract and suddenly our monthly fees dropped to £25 a month!!! Worth a go even if you arnt planning on switching, its amazing what they will do to keep customers sometimes

Hmm - Must say it does sound like they don't have their customers best interests at heart!

Do you go on MSE? The forum there is FAB at helping with stuff like this! I mean you too Mrs Dot Dot (who I think opened the thread, but can't see even by clicking the review whole thread thingy hmm ) - get on there and ask for their advice!

Then don't go to Sky!! The trouble we had trying to get broadband was a nightmare - enough to stay with BT - who's internet is good but again their customer service is pretty poor!

I find Gmail is really good for email and highly recommend!! Love the GMAIL notifier which you can download to desktop aswell it lets you know when an email is in!! Also means regardless of your provider you wont lose any email address! Although I don't see why switching provider would mean losing your email!

approx 2yrs ago

Virgin had already taken over NTL - have had several problems very close together and basically have stopped trusting anything customer services say now because no two people tell me the same story

The only reason I havnt changed sooner is that I really dont want to go with BT - we are very limited in who we can use in the village

How long ago was it Sal? Could it be that if virgin took over ntl, they didn't want/need/have reason to keep the ntl addresses active?

I have always used a gmail account and find it excellent

I was informed that old email was terminated the day I moved from flat and they automatically gave me a new one - I was told by customer service that this is normal practice and irreversible, which wasnt what they had told me/promised when I notified them I was moving.

We have been with now virtgin since we got back from Tenerife around 96 l think they are all the same l am happy enough with who l am with. Am not sure why you lost your email l have always been told if l change l keep my email but after this time sal you may find it is lost simply due to time.

if you dont lose your email please can you let me know. When I moved house I lost my old NTL (which is now Virgin) email address and they gave me a new one when they had promised me I would be able to use my old email address. I wasnt able to access my old emails which meant I lost a whole lot of contacts. I am still with Virgin but have to say their customer service leaves a lot to be desired and I am looking round for a new supplier.
