Vicky, They are replacing the blue whiting with duck... not so sure that is a good idea... but the Gov't have cut BW fishing quotas by 90% so instead of trying to find another white fish again (they changed from capelin to BW a few years ago... do you remember?) they are changing to duck because it can be farmed more easily and is more long term... we are just beginning to get 1.5kg feline bags thru, which are supposed to have stickers on wher O's can reg on-line and get a free bag for them to use in the change over period but ours haven't... not sure if RCW have changed their minds... could be expensive for them.......

Re: Very allergic dog

It is duck and tapioca for the dried canine food. Apparently fishing quotas have been reduced and so they have had to reformulate

Re: Very allergic dog
Royal canin are getting rid of the white fish and tapioca
The ones that come up as a true allergic i would avoid the most. My cat has the same problem and is allergic to similar products.

I worked my way through different foods until I found one that seemed to make her itch the least and improved coat condition. Started with Hills DD, then RCW sensitivity and then Hills zd. Only hydrolysed proteins would work for her. As much as possible she only eats this. I found that although the food is slightly more to buy, I don't need to feed her too much.

Contact Hills I know sometimes they have offers and your rep may be able to supply you with a free 5kg bag of something to try..... ....... you never know till you ask.

Re: Very allergic dog

Also, if they are that responsive to beef/pork/chicken make sure that the owner doesn't give any pedigree treats/logic chews/dentarasks/cet chews.

Re: Very allergic dog

The majority of Hill's and Royal Canin diets contain animal fat which is pork and so if there is a strong response to pork then I look at James Wellbeloved. It might be worht looking at fish and vegetable

Might be worth doing a trial of 6-8 weeks and see if there is an issue. I only tend to use the blood results as a base line and then gradually reintroduce one ingredient at a time.
