If the diploma isnt appealing to you why not consider doing your USA Vet Tech specialist in either Emergency Critical Care or Internal Medicine.

I am considering doing mine as it is far more appealing to me than the diploma and you can pick the field you want to specialise in, also its nowhere near as expensive as the diploma even when factoring in the cost of flights to america to sit the exams! Another plus is that not many other nurses in the UK have this qualification so it will certainly look great on your CV

can you please tell me more about this as im really interested in internal medicine, not to keen on whole diploma.

any websites, course links, costs. id really like to do this

Re: Any recommendations for post qualification certificates?

With regards to the USA Vet Tech specialist qualification, does this enable you to stand a little chance to work in the USA depending on what state you obtain the qualification from? I know it's extremely hard, impossible to work in the USA unless you have an American passport but I am just curious....

A friend obtained a USA Vet Tech Specialist qualification in Anaesthesia, so there are a few subjects :)

I may do this at some point in the future! Luckily my other half works for three airlines so is able to get very cheap tickets!!!

Re: Any recommendations for post qualification certificates?

If the diploma isnt appealing to you why not consider doing your USA Vet Tech specialist in either Emergency Critical Care or Internal Medicine.

You need to do core modules - evidence based nuring nursing care, law and ethics and applied physiology then choose optional ones - they do medical nursing, anaesthesia, surgical, diagnostic imaging, infection control and are also introducing critical care from 2012. Why not contact them and have a chat - you pay as you go and only study as many modules at a time as you want so can be tilored around you a bit - though it is hard work.

Re: Any recommendations for post qualification certificates?
? I am particularly interested in medical/ critical care nursing and anaesthesia.
it seems to me like the medical diploma would be a good one for you, alot has changed with the diploma, and i thing you can now chose your 3 core areas of study. when i did my medical diploma i had to do medical nursing, anaesthesia/critical care, and radiography.

i found it wery interesting, and it helped me to think outside the box. it is also a good way of furthering your career, in repect of senior roles and increased salary.

good luk with whatever you decide to do.
