Are you sure your OH didn't inadvertantly give them permission. It's probably better that they removed it - Histology?

Hmm, I agree that they probably thought you'd want it taken off, especially as they know you as a colleague / vet professional and possibly thought they knew what you'd want. Not saying it's the right thing to do but suspect that your relationship with them may have influenced their decision. Maybe?

I make my boss call clients if we find things under GA, even if it is teeth scale and polish, and we find a resop leision, or if the cat is in for a spay and we discover its pregnant

Maybe it was mis-communication, the lump was mentioned and they thought you wanted it removed.

ok it isnt right that a procedure has been carried out without your consent but could it possibly have been done as a 'favour' to save you the cost of another anaesthetic and your cat another anaesthetic at a later date? and I know that doesnt make it right but maybe it was done with the best of intentions. I feel you need to be speaking to somebody at the practice directly rather than discussing it on here.

I'b be livid! I'm sure it was the right thing to do for the cat, and that the consent form had and any other procedures necessary on it, but I'd be really cross!

I know a practice that was taken to court for clipping a dogs nails under GA with out consent!
