We tried grooming it out and washing out with water yesterday and shampoo today but it won't come off! It seems an awful lot of dye

Re: Bright orange dye on our cat?

If they could talk they would be a dumb as us humans

Re: Bright orange dye on our cat?

Id be inclined to agree. Lily pollen is notorious for staning and notorious for sending cats in to kidney failure! And that is alot that hes covered in!

If he were mine id get him on fluids asap and do bloods just to be sure, you cant be too careful with lilies and cats, if he turns out to be fine then no harm done but if it does turn out to be lilies the little guys going to be in a whole lot of trouble

any of your neighbours put up a new wooden fence recently?

The reason I ask is when mine put up a new fence for some reason my cat thought it waslovely to spend ages rubbing all the way along it and turning orange into the process. Checked with Wickes which is where the fence came from and was told it was an animal friendly treatment - Morris never came to any harm from it as far as I am aware

http://www.wickes.co.uk/overlap-fence-panel/invt/540051/
I never thought of that but it seems fairly likely...and a nicer thought than pollen or someone doing this to him.

Re: Bright orange dye on our cat?

It could possibly be iron from a rusty pond. Yes a rusty pond! Stagnant pools with metal in cause the water to go orange. Dogs for some reason love to swim in the puddles and come off a very orangey-brown colour. He may have slipped into one.

I'd go with freshly painted fences or decking though as a first option. It seems likely as it's gardening season!

Re: Bright orange dye on our cat?

any of your neighbours put up a new wooden fence recently?
