I took on a receptionist job (part time) at a local vets in feb, due to full time uni. During my interview there was some discussion about whether i would fill in for nurse holidays etc....
At the start this seemed fine, did one morning of

Re: Nurse working as a receptionist
Spoke to her today and we have agreed that, for now I am not required to do nurse shifts. I mentioned that it isnt in my contract about nursing hours.
my contract only states that I am a receptionist - and i only just get above minimum wage, so, the nurses are on way more than me!! My head nurse leaves today and my practice manager is who i am responsible to.

Not all practices pay rcvs or bvna membership.

The manager is in the position to tell you of the duties that are required of you the Head nurse can put her say in but the manager has the deciding vote.

I'm sorry but I think they should be paying you more for the nursing hours that you do.. Put it this way.. my sister works as a chef and does the odd shift as a duty manager - she gets more pay doing the duty manager job than she does chefing.

Have you raised your concerns with this head nurse? she can't speak to you like that, it's not professional and definitely not worth the wage your getting to be putting up with attitude like that.. is there a more senior person you can talk to?

Hope you manage to get it sorted xx
