I do get all the proper forms filled in with contact no's for relatives etc, and am fully insured, it is just ahorrid thing to happen. I was really just wondering what anyone thought the cause may be. I only do pet sitting on a very small scale very local to home and am not taking on any new customers as I have enough to keep me busy with my regulars but thanks for the offer.

Re: Cat sudden death

Sorry that should read WILL NOT GO BLUE!

Re: Cat sudden death

Allegedly only about 30% of animals will go blue when in respiratory distress and after death, so the fatc he is pink may not be a clue.

It sounds like the vets were trying a fire fighting route, with a work-up planned if no better, but just didn't get that far. I imagine if stressy and resp probs wasn't a candidate for anaesthesia or laying still for conc x-ray!

Can you take the cat to the vets she uses and they keep him until she returns home?

Re: Cat sudden death

When I do petsitting we take an emergency contact number for the O and someone in this country to. Then you can speak to the friend or relative over here and get their advice.

Personally if I was on holiday I would prefer to know that my cat had died rather than find out when I got back.

It's your responsibilty as a petsitter to keep the O informed really, but it is a pet sitters worse nightmare, and thank god it's not happened to me or my husband yet.

Just out of interest are you a member of National Petsitters and where are you based? If so, I can pass your details onto potential clients if we are full.
