&lt;p&gt;I don&amp;#39;t live in London so have no idea how the prices compare - I just found the system very easy.&amp;nbsp; Not sure how it can be expensive though as it does cap the fare when you get to the travelcard rate. (Or Stanmore?)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Its cheaper if you only want a One Day Travelcard (unlimited all buses and tubes) for a couple of&amp;nbsp; Zones than for Zones 1 - 6.&amp;nbsp; Also cheaper if you go out after 9.30am. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You may find yourself having to use a ticket machine - our tube rarely has a person there any more - so might be easier to look at TFL website to make sure you buy the right one. The machines are very confusing &lt;img src="http://www.vetnurse.co.uk/emoticons/new/Sad_smiley.png" alt="Sad" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

You can buy a day pass at the tube station which lasts for a day and allows you unlimited travel on tubes and buses.&lt;/p&gt;
