I sorted out my own - I found the tax office very helpful and they do run day courses which are free to help you get the hang of doing your own accounts and will also give you quite a few pointers as to what expenses you can or cannot set against your tax. I did find some agencies that sort it all out for you and do not charge (Northern Health Solutions which is now recruit 4vets) . It really isnt that difficult to do it yourself and will save you quite a bit of money, just remember to set aside something in the bank each week or month to cover your income tax and pay your National Insurance as billed.

There are practices that will employ you as a locum but are happy to have you on the books and sort your PAYE /NI for you and it is worth asking when you start a job with them

Hi, I did locuming for a while and used an umbrella company - for about £5 a week they did all my tax and payments and travel expenses and stuff!!

The one i went with was I4, but there are others
