Im on the ANA course at CAW n i dont intubate.. i do monitor GA at work but havnt lernt a great deal about it.. just about general nursing. and all anatomy and physiology about all the different systems and stuff.. i hope to pass in june :D lol

It hasn't been part of our ANA's course, although we have started training her how to intubate anyway as part of in-house training (good practice in case of emergencies etc) but I'm 99% sure it's not anything to do with her ANA course.

I am a qualified VCA and i do anaesthesia monitoring but do not intubate. I had to know all about it, how it is done and watch many a vet do it but no i do not intube and i didn't even practise. Not part of VCA course.

ANA doesn't include any anaesthesia but students learn theatre support i.e instruments, cleaning etc. The Veterinary Care Assistant (run by CAW) does include some anaesthesia I believe however whether they need to learn intubation I'm not too sure.

Looking a the BVNA website it doesnt look like it does. I also didnt study anaesthesia at college until level III and didn't start intubating until close to qualification.....

doubt it - i didnt do anaesthesia til level 3,

may be worth checking with college - may just want her to get experience etc

Not sure but its not on the SVN syllabus til Level 3, so would doubt an ANA is supposed to be doing it.
