I (hopefully) start a new job in May,this will be my first job in practice, since I qualifed in oktober.
I am so looking forward to this, but...
In Denmark, where I qualifed, it is the employer that provides you with your uniform.

Yeah seems to be far in between in terms of getting a job for vet nurses over there... Especially as there is only five million people living there! I'm in Denmark for a few days next week for a little break seeing my in-laws...

Jobs are definitely more forthcoming over here in the UK! I hope you have fun working here.

As for locum agencies, contact Dominic at Recruit4Vets. He really helped me out when I worked as a locum for a while and they have great contacts with various veterinary groups and practices such as Village Vet.

Best of luck!!

Re: New job, and no uniform!

Hi,

I live in the other end of Denmark, outside a small city called Skælskør, on Sealand.

There are no jobs for vetnurses in denmark.

At the moment there is 4 vacant positions. That is also the reason that I am moving.

Re: New job, and no uniform!

Hiya,

Whereabouts in Denmark do you come from? My wife comes from Aalborg in Denmark. I tried twice unsuccessfully to get a nursing job (two years qualified and six years nursing) but due to lack of Danish I couldn't :-( I do speak some Danish but not fluent so my wife ended up moving here to the UK and now has a successful job here.

Good luck!

Re: New job, and no uniform!

As a locum you'll be expected to provide your own uniform usually - unless you are working for a large "corporate" practice who want you to wear stuff with their logo on it - I'd get a few sets of each as you just know you'll get peed on as soon as you walk in the door and the accommodation provided may have limited clothes washing facilities. Good luck!
