you can change the dates of a flight but you can not change the person flying if it is a non refundable flight. you will need to cancel the flight and purchase it again. BMI/RYANAIR/EASYJET are really bad about the 'extras' that you would get with larger franchises. Delta or British Air would do it, but I doubt you can get it with BMI especially if you have done it through a travel agent or website.

have you already paid for the booked flights? If not, then I would suggest booking with another airline?

I'm not much help I'm afraid but I will tell you I once changed flights with BMI baby to a later flight on the same day and they charged me £95 for a flight that only cost £28 return to start with

I've changed tickets to another name before but they usually charge an admin fee of about £25-30. I guess it's probably down to individual airlines to set their own policy though.

It is all to do with security. I think it is crazy as the new person is as easy to check as the one who stepped off but they just use the security excuse. Happened to someone l know as well. Can try and speak to them direct but the people l knew had no luck it was not bmi was an international flight with different carrier.
